MODERN TECHNOLOGY. TIMELESS CRAFTSMANSHIP.
The beauty of a classic mahogany boat, engineered for modern life on the water.
THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
WEST TECHNOLOGY
Clarion Boats of Muskoka employs the proven WEST (Wood Epoxy Saturation Technology) system, a building system that has been successfully employed throughout North America for more than 40 years. It allows Clarion to create boats with all the sophistication, beauty and character of a classic mahogany runabout, without the regular maintenance that makes traditional wooden boats impractical for all but devoted vintage enthusiasts.

BUILT FROM THE INSIDE OUT
With the WEST system, all structural wooden components are protected by multiple coats of marine-grade epoxy before construction. This epoxy saturation creates a durable, waterproof barrier designed to protect the wood from fluctuations in weather and water conditions while helping prevent leakage and rot. The result is a proven construction method that combines the timeless appeal of mahogany with modern durability and reliability.
WATERPROOFED

Marine-grade epoxy protects structural wooden components.
LOW MAINTENANCE

Modern construction reduces the maintenance concerns associated with traditional wooden boats.
BUILT TO LAST

The result is a structure designed for strength, durability and years of enjoyment.
PRECISION MEETS CRAFTSMANSHIP

Computerized CNC machines are used to cut wooden components such as frames, achieving extremely accurate connections. From there, skilled craftsmen take over, bringing together precision manufacturing and traditional boatbuilding expertise.
3,000+
HOURS OF CRAFTSMANSHIP
From the first frame to the final finish.
DETAILS THAT TAKE
THOUSANDS OF HOURS
Each Clarion Runabout, Gentleman's Racer or Long-Deck Fast Launch takes over 3,000 hours to construct, with craftsmanship evident through every stage, from initial framing through the final coats of UV-resistant varnish.
CLASSIC BY DESIGN.
MODERN BY ENGINEERING.
In short, the WEST system produces a product that is as durable, strong and low-maintenance as a conventional fibreglass boat, while retaining the style, class and distinction of a wooden boat.
